This project expanded the helicopter turbine engine test facility to allow for the testing of up to a 10,000-horsepower engine on a new dynameter. The site already had a test facility for 5,000-horsepower engines, but now the user was being tasked to test larger engines. The design work included a new 24’ x 15’ test facility with a 16’ x 24’ telescopic building, a new 2,550-ton cooling tower, water-to-water heat exchanger, a hot tank, a cold tank, DDC controls and associated piping and supports. Wiring and conduit connected the new facility to the old facility so that test-room observations could take place on either dynamometer. The project construction cost was $1,490,000. The project was completed on time and within budget.
